The Capital Region of New York state is quickly becoming known as a leader in innovative and renewable technology. Many towns within the district's Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties are helping to drive New York's thriving tech economy forward by attracting the attention of major international companies.  No town in the Capital Region exemplifies this changing dynamic more so than Malta, home to a major semiconductor plant owned by computer circuitry giant Global Foundries, Inc.

Only a half hour drive down Interstate 87, Albany makes a great choice for a day trip from Saratoga County.  Originally chartered in 1686, Albany became the state capital in 1797.   With varied neighborhoods and a rising younger population, Albany is gentrifying and becoming the entertainment hotspot for upstate New York.  Albany's cultural scene thrives too, with plenty of parks, museums and performing venues that book nationally known artists and shows. Add in some world class restaurants, and you've got the makings of a great weekend plan!

On June 7th, 1999, Sports Illustrated (SI) published an article titled “SI's Top 20 Venues of the 20th Century."  In the article, SI placed The Saratoga Race Course at 10^th place, joining other hallowed sporting shrines including Augusta National, Wrigley Field, and Wembley Stadium. In a sport that includes legendary race tracks like Churchill Downs and Belmont Park, the Saratoga Race Course stands alone in the sport of horseracing.  Sports Illustrated recognized the Saratoga Race Course as a “bucket list” stop for sports fans across the globe.
