If you are, you'll be delighted to hear that New York's Tech Valley region once again will proudly host the premier FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) at the state-of-the-art East Campus Athletic Village Arena at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. New York's Tech Valley is a site for innovative technology companies making it the perfect place to host this world-renowned engineering challenge. The competition puts teams of high school students and volunteer mentors together to conceptualize and build a robot. FIRST combines the excitement of live sports with the complexities of science and technology. Read on for some background on the program and what you can expect from this year's event.

The Home and Lifestyle Show is coming back in full force to the Saratoga Springs City Center, February 26-28. Whether you live close by or far away, this year is set to be the best one yet. Traditionally, the event only featured home-related exhibitors but has diversified over the years to include lifestyle booths such as family recreation & pets, media & entertainment, food & wellness, green living and more. For many Americans, drive-in theaters are a fondly remembered part of their youth. Starting in the late 1980s, however, many of these theaters were closed as Americans became more interested in other forms of entertainment and maintenance costs made the theaters too expensive to run. Recently, however, more American families are discovering this form of entertainment again; drive-in theaters have slowly started to increase in number. The Malta Drive-In Theatre on Route 9 was built in 1949 and has been in continuous operation since then. It is one of only 450 drive-ins left in the US. GlobalFoundries: A Growing Malta Company

The recent announcement that GlobalFoundries has acquired IBM’s global commercial semiconductor technology business makes the company the holder of one of the largest semiconductor patent portfolios in the world. The purchase is an additional investment of $1.5 billion in semiconductor technology. This agreement also means that GlobalFoundries becomes IBM’s exclusive server processor provider for the next ten years. The Times Union called it one of the largest business deals in our region's history.
