Situated in the middle of Saratoga State Park is Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). It is a sizable arts complex that consists of a very large performance amphitheater and a small indoor theater. Besides hosting touring acts and serving as the graduation venue for several local high schools, including Ballston Spa and Shenendehowa, SPAC is most notable for serving as the summer home for the New York City Ballet and The Philadelphia Orchestra.

The county of Saratoga and its residents are proud of its tradition of supporting local artists. The “First Saturdays” event, which continues this tradition, takes place on the first Saturday of each month in downtown Saratoga Springs between Broadway, Spring Street, and Beekman Street. The event, which until recently was held on Thursday nights, is a part of the city of Saratoga Springs’ Art Council’s efforts to bring attention to a thriving art scene of Saratoga Springs and its neighbors.

Going to Ballston Spa High School is not a laid back ‘spa’ like school, as their name would suggest. Rather named for the town it is located, Ballston Spa High School is a public school located in Ballston Spa, New York. Recently named one of the 2,000 best high schools in America, they are known for their high graduation rates, participation in the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs, and above average SAT and ACT scores.
