The Parks and Recreation Department in Malta puts together a handy guide of all the parks and trails in Malta. It is available at the Malta Community Center, 1 Bayberry Drive. Reservations may be made for the picnic pavilions in the Malta Community Park and the Shenantaha Creek Park from May through September. The Malta Athletic Association oversees reservations for athletic fields. A link appears at the end of this blog article with more information.

Malta Community Park

Located in a forest of pine trees, the Malta Community Park is open from 7:30 am to sunset daily. There's a sandy plains area where baseball, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and a playground are located; picnic pavilions and bathroom facilities are available. There's also a .75 mile paved nature trail, the Parade Ground Trail.

The Malta Community Park is located two miles from the Northway's exit 12. Travel east on Route 67, across Route 9 and onto Dunning Street; Dunning becomes Plains Road. The park will be on your left.

Shenantaha Creek Park

The Ballston Creek runs along the eastern edge of this park. There are woods filled with oaks, maples, pines and hemlocks that provide lots of shade in the summer. The Zim Smith Trail is paved. This park is open from 7:30 am to sunset daily. You'll find soccer fields, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, picnic pavilions that can be reserved, a playground, bathrooms, and historic sites within the park.

To reach Shenantaha Creek Park take Northway exit 12, go west on Route 67 about 1.4 miles. At the traffic signal, turn left onto East Line Road. The park is one-half mile further. Parking is just down the hill.

Collamer Park

Open 7:30 am to sunset, Collamer Park is located near the Wiggins-Collamer House. It features picnic areas and a basketball court.

The park is located at the intersection of East High Street and NYS Route 9.

Here's a handy link to a brochure describing all of the parks in Malta as well as contact information for party and athletic field reservations.
