Summer Programs at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs

This is the time of year when parents' thoughts turn to programs for their kids during the summer. In addition to plenty of camp possibilities in Saratoga County and the Capital City Region, Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs offers a wide variety of exciting local learning opportunities. Programs are available for youths, high school students, and college students. There's even offerings for adults and professionals in the community. Summer in and around Saratoga Springs is never a quiet, boring time; there's entertaining activities everywhere!

It's easy for anyone to get to the college to take advantage of the summer offerings. The Skidmore College campus is a scenic 15-minute walk along North Broadway from downtown Saratoga Springs. The Capital District Transit Authority (CDTA) offers Skidmore students and employees free bus service to and from downtown Saratoga Springs and some other locations Monday through Saturday every 20 minutes. There's even buses on Sunday which run every 40 minutes.

Here's a rundown on summer activities for everyone at Skidmore College.

Youth

Summer sports camps run from June through August for children 5 years old and up. Skidmore coaches and athletes in baseball, basketball, softball, lacrosse, rowing, swimming, field hockey, soccer, and volleyball work with youths in learning the sport or refining their game.

Camp Northwoods is a day camp for children entering grades 1 through 6. Activities focus on sports, cultural arts, nature study, and play. There are weekly field trips to recreational and historic sites, and special guests are brought in for enrichment programs.

High School Students

Students from all areas of the world travel to Skidmore College to take part in a variety of programs designed to give them a jump-start in college. Programs include:

 

College Students

In the summer college students can take courses that fulfill academic requirements or learn a new subject strictly for interest. There are research projects and summer internships available as well as jobs on campus. Some of the programs available to high school students are also open to college students.
