Malta Development has made it their mission to be an active part of the communities in which they locate their new developments. With this commitment in mind, it was an easy decision to develop a relationship with the Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) charitable effort in Albany. As well, Malta Development had a personal interest in RMHC's success since one of their own was welcomed at the Camden NJ, Ronald McDonald House in 2011.
Shannon Sheft, Malta Development Office Manager and daughter of Tom Samascott, President, needed emergency in-vitro surgery to save her unborn twins. While recovering, the Camden Ronald McDonald House hosted Shannon, her 20-month old son Brayden and her husband Mike. Shannon was impressed with many aspects of the Ronald McDonald House: family-friendly amenities included the Elmo-themed room in which they stayed, a well-equipped playroom, computer rooms, comfortable living rooms and TV lounges, and daily complimentary shared dinners from the large communal kitchen. It was these dinners that would later turn into an opportunity to give back for Tom Samascott and Malta Development.
The operation was a success and Shannon is back at work guiding prospective homeowners through their planning process and tending to her three healthy children. Recently, Tom learned that the Ronald McDonald House in Albany, NY was seeking donations and volunteers to help renovate a third Victorian building on South Lake Avenue. The renovation calls for a large group kitchen to serve all of the families who stay there.
Tom immediately committed crews at Malta Development to help with this remodel by volunteering to install the new kitchen. Malta Development wants to make sure that local families in need enjoy the same comfortable surroundings Shannon experienced in New Jersey.
Malta Development is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community that has welcomed and supported so many building projects during 26 years in business in the New York Capital Region.
